The Aquarium Restaurant Downtown Denver

Since I had time to kill before my flight back to London I thought I’d leave Boulder and go to Denver’s downtown Aquarium.

Amongst the many fish and sharks what did I find? A tiger! yes they have a real Sumatran Tiger in the middle of the Aquarium surrounded by water with loads of fish in it.

Anyway back to business. Once I finished by little tour it was time for food at the Aquarium restaurant. Now this might seem somewhat wrong, but I fancied a bit of fish for lunch and as they had plenty on the menu so I went for good old mysterious “White Flaky Fish” in beer batter with Fries and coleslaw.

Whilst I was waiting for my food I went off to wash my hands as I had just stroked a slimey sting ray in the touch pools! When I came back my diet coke had gone and the table was being re-laid with more knives and forks.

Ladies and gentleman, this is one of the problems with dining alone – nobody to man the table and stop the staff from thinking you have dissapeared!

Still they apologised and brought me a new coke and assured me dinner is still on it’s way.

When it came it looked promising, nice fat chips with chunks of battered fish laid on top and seperate tubs of tartare sauce, tomato ketchup and coleslaw which was more like a salad actually.

The chips were nice and the coleslaw/salad but the fish wasn’t great. It was a bit chewy and didn’t have much taste at all. I think they should raid the aquarium for their stock for ultimate freshness!

The restaurant has a great view over the very thing your eating though which is strange but the fish a beautiful as they wizz around in shouls.

Their menu had lots of fish and shrimp dishes but they did have some nice chicken and steak dishes too – In fact I found it hard to choose so that always the sign of a good menu.

Unusually I was asked if I would like a desert whilst I was still eating my main dinner which was a first but hey.

Overall it wasn’t too bad and I would have liked to have tried some other dishes actually.

If you give it a try let us know how ou found it below.
